Jim's 96 Cherokee - "Stinky"![]() I bought this Jeep on Nov 30, 2000 with 68,000 miles on it. She was a stock 96 Cherokee Sport, and I traded my running 178,000 mile-old '89 Cherokee Pioneer for it. The first mod I made was to have the dealer remove the worn generic tires that were on it and mount my 235/75R15 BFG ATs on the '96 factory 15x7 rims. In the more than seven years since that purchase I have put another 144,500 miles on the Jeep (212,500 just the other day) and she's still running strong. ![]() Blurry, but stock... After driving around like that for the better part of a year, I decided it was time to go higher; inch-itis had struck. I found a good deal on a Rubicon Express 2" Budget Boost, and ran that for awhile with 30" BFG All-Terrains.
That worked for awhile, but two years down the road I had a recurrence of that bad case of inch-itis along with some worn tires so I used that tax refund from Uncle Sam to buy an RE6130 4.5" Rubicon Express lift from Jason at JeepinOutfitters.com as well as some used 32x11.50x15 BFG ATs. Since then I was given a great deal on some 32" Dunlop Mud Rovers and ran those from May 2004 until Feb, 2008 when I replaced them with 33x10.50 BFG Mud-Terrains. My current setup: 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport

Last but not least...I picked this bit of wisdom about environmentalists/recreationalism from one of the gurus of Jeep Wrangler mods, "Stu" from www.stu-offroad.com. Stu got it from someone else, who heard it from someone else...etc. It certainly seems fitting to me. |
